Commitment to quality

Quality Control & Quality Assurance are paramount to everything that SME stands for and covers all aspects of the production process from initial client enquiry to final inspection, delivery and client acceptance. We are proud of our enviable reputation within the industry for uncompromising quality standards. SME has a Coordinate Measuring Machine operated by highly experienced engineering Inspectors to ensure every component produced conforms to exacting quality standards.

CNC milling

SME are specialists in CNC Milling and have a wide range of Vertical CNC Milling machines which enables production of parts up to 750 mm in length x 480 mm in width x 450 mm in height. This enables us to produce accurately engineered products in a range of volume batches using a variety of different materials.

CNC turning

SME has vast expertise in CNC Turning and specialises in precision quality components up to 400mm in diameter and 425mm in length. Our high quality and complex Hardinge machines have full mill and turn capabilities and a Y-axis which enables manufacture of parts in one operation making the process flexible and cost efficient.

Plating, anodising and finishing

SME have in house capability for a wide range of processes including
Black, Clear and Bright Anodising – A range of finishes such as Satin/Matt are possible by aqua blasting parts before the anodising process.
Chrome Plating in Bright, Black and Satin finishes.
Chemical Blacking
Gold Plating
Copper Plating
Nickel Plating
Polishing Shop and Barrelling Room with different grades of media and ceramic stones which are used for super high finishes on Stainless Steels.

In addition, finished parts can now be laser etched in house.
